I tried making my trail invisible for a sneaky level design. It's pretty straightforward: in the editor, select your trail, go to 'Edit Object', and turn down the opacity until it hits zero. Works like a charm and adds a whole new level of cool to your custom levels.
Just set the trail opacity to 0 in the editor, really. It's that simple.
