Teams are chosen at Level 5. Go to a Gym and pick between Team Instinct, Team Mystic, or Team Valor.

You can't make your own team, but you can join one once you hit Level 5. Just go to a Gym and pick from Instinct, Mystic, or Valor.

To join a team in Pokémon GO, reach Level 5 and visit any Gym. Professor Willow will guide you to choose between Team Instinct (Yellow), Team Mystic (Blue), or Team Valor (Red)!
