On console: hit the menu button and choose 'Save.' Also, the game autosaves at certain points!
Autosave? Never heard of it. Manually saving is the only way to be sure you don't lose progress. Pause and save - don't risk it.
You can save your game by pressing the Pause button and selecting 'Save.' For PC, it automatically creates a save file in your game directory.
