Not recommended! Opening up your PS3 voids the warranty, and you might end up with a very expensive paperweight.

You need a Torx T10 screwdriver to start. Remove the screws from the hard drive bay and outer case. Carefully lift off the top cover. Disassemble the internal components step by step, making sure to note where everything goes.

Taking apart a PS3 is a bit of a journey! First, unplug everything. Then, remove the hard drive cover and screws. After that, take off the top cover. Keep track of those tiny screws and where they go, or you'll be in for a puzzle later.

Got my PS3 open last weekend! Unplug all cables, then remove the hard drive bay cover and screws. Pop off the top cover slowly. Disassemble it layer by layer, but take pictures as you go so you remember how to put it back together.

If you're a PlayStation player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official PlayStation gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
