Ridley can be unlocked in Super Smash Bros Ultimate by either playing through Classic Mode with Samus or any of her Echo Fighters, or by encountering him in the World of Light Adventure Mode. He's also a potential opponent in the Challenger Approaching battles that show up as you play the game!

I've unlocked Ridley by completing Classic Mode a few times with different characters. It's a bit of a grind, but totally worth it for that space dragon action!

Just keep playing through the game, and Ridley will eventually challenge you! Make sure you beat him to add him to your roster.

Or you can leave your console on, set to multiplayer with two controllers, and keep battling. Ridley will eventually appear in Challenger battles. Takes a bit, but works every time!

Why waste time on modes when you can focus on World of Light? He's one of the bosses there and gets unlocked when you beat him.
