Just go to your Pokemon's profile and tap 'Set as Buddy.' Then, hit the pavement and start logging those kilometers together!

In my experience, you just set a Pokemon as your buddy in the game鈥檚 menu and then walk around. Your phone鈥檚 GPS does the rest!
