Act reset is just a fancy term for 'try again but not from scratch'. You do need to play those placement matches, but think of it as Valorant's way of asking, 'You still got it?'

So, when a new act starts in Valorant, it's kinda like hitting the refresh button but not totally starting over. Your competitive rank doesn't just vanish into thin air; instead, you have to play a few placement matches to get your new rank. Usually, this means your new rank will be close to where you left off, give or take a few tiers. It's Riot's way of making sure everyone is where they're supposed to be based on their current skill level.

Basically, act reset = you're proving yourself again. You play 5 placement matches, but it's not a total reset. You're likely to land near your old rank unless you've either gotten way better or kinda rusty.

If you're a Valorant player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Valorant gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
