How does Apex Legends track kills?

In Apex Legends, every time you take down an enemy, the game automatically tracks and adds it to your total kill count. This count is visible in your player stats, which you can view on your profile. It's a straightforward system - if you knock down an enemy and then completely eliminate them, you get the credit for the kill. However, if someone else knocks an enemy down and you finish them off, the kill goes to the player who did the initial knockdown.

It's all about who gets the knockdown. If you're the one to down an enemy, that kill's yours, even if someone else finishes them off. Got into an argument with a buddy who swore he got more kills than his stats said – turns out, he was finishing off enemies I'd knocked down. The game was right; he wasn't.

If you're a Apex Legends player, you need to download the Playbite app!

That includes gift cards from all of your favorite gaming platforms, like PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Steam and more... which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:
