Corruption spreads in Terraria by slowly converting nearby blocks to its own type. It can jump over a few blocks, so creating a gap or using non-corruptible blocks around areas you wanna keep safe is a good strategy. Watch out when Hardmode hits, though, 'cause the Corruption starts spreading faster and can even leap over wider gaps!

Just dig a moat! Seriously, a 3 to 5-block-wide trench around your corruption area can keep it from spreading. Also, Sunflowers. Plant them at the edges. They won't stop the spread in Hardmode, but they're great for pre-Hardmode.

imo, corruption's not even that bad. Makes the game more challenging and the biomes look cool.

Corruption's spread is biome warfare, pure and simple. It eats up the land, converting it to its grim aesthetic. Worm Scarfs and Cursed Flames, anyone?
