How does the Overwatch ranking system work?
RegulatingHale路3 months agoIn Overwatch, you'll play placement matches at the start of each season to get your Skill Rating (SR). This SR ranges from 1 to 5000 and places you in a tier from Bronze to Grandmaster. Win matches to gain SR, and lose matches to... well, you get the idea!

You play matches, you get ranked. Simple as that. Don't overthink it.
From what I've experienced, your rank in Overwatch depends heavily on your performance during placement matches and subsequent Competitive play. The better you and your team do, the better your SR and rank will be. Remember to flex between roles when needed to best support your team!
Your Overwatch rank is determined by your Skill Rating (SR), which changes based on your performance in Competitive matches. Higher SR means higher rank, from Bronze up to Grandmaster. It's all about winning and teamwork!
