In Subnautica, solar panels work efficiently up to about 200 meters. Beyond that depth, you'll want to switch to other power sources like the Bioreactor or Nuclear Reactor for your bases.

I've found that solar panels start losing efficiency around the 75-100 meter mark. After 200 meters, they're pretty much useless. Time to find an alternative power source!

0m! Solar panels really only work well on the surface. Anything deeper and you're looking at another way to power your base.

From my experience, once you pass 100 meters, solar panels start to struggle. Just slap a few on the surface for shallow bases or switch to thermal plants for deeper spots!
