How to Install Windows on Steam Deck
WipingBride路7 months agoInstalling Windows on a Steam Deck is kinda like teaching a cat to swim; possible, but filled with caveats. Seriously though, make sure you really need Windows because it's a bit of a process and you'll lose some Steam Deck specific optimizations. If you do proceed, follow the steps for creating a bootable Windows USB, but keep in mind, not all drivers play nice, so you might end up with some functionality hiccups.

So, you wanna give your Steam Deck a Windows makeover? First up, grab a USB drive with at least 16 GB of space and download the Windows 10 or 11 ISO file from the official Microsoft website. Next, use Rufus or a similar tool to create a bootable USB drive. Now, power off your Steam Deck, plug in the USB, and hold the Volume Down button while you press the Power button. This will bring up the Boot Manager. Select the USB drive, and follow the on-screen instructions to install Windows. Remember, you'll need a keyboard and mouse or a USB hub since the touchscreen doesn't work during installation.
Honestly, why bother installing Windows on a Steam Deck? The whole point of it is to enjoy PC games on the go without the Windows hassle. Stick to SteamOS; it's smooth, built for gaming, and keeps your device a gaming haven!
