Basically, plants use sunlight to zap water molecules, and that energy helps slam a phosphate onto ADP, making ATP. Science magic!

ATP is made during the light-dependent reactions of photosynthesis. Sunlight excites electrons in chlorophyll, which then travel down the electron transport chain, generating energy that powers ATP synthase to convert ADP and phosphate into ATP!

Photosynthesis turns sunlight into plant energy through a process called photophosphorylation. Think of it as the plant’s way of charging its batteries with light.
