In a traditional MTG draft, each player needs 3 booster packs. Since each pack has 15 cards, you're looking at a total of 45 cards per player for the draft pool. If you've got 8 players, that's a total of 360 cards going into the draft pool. Remember, this includes lands, which you usually get a few of in each pack!

Not everyone remembers this, but technically you need exactly 360 cards for a standard 8-player draft. That's 45 cards per player, straight up.

45 cards per player, so don't overthink it. More players, multiply by 45. Simple as that.

Honestly, just stick with 45 cards per player. It's how the game's designed to be drafted, and it's always worked out fine in my group. We've tried tweaking numbers before, but it just complicates things.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
