Meiosis results in daughter cells with half the chromosome number of the parent cell. For humans, that's 23 chromosomes each.

During meiosis, the chromosome number is halved, so if a parent cell has 46 chromosomes, each daughter cell will have 23.

Basically, meiosis chops the chromosome count in half. For humans, that takes you from 46 to 23.

Meiosis creates cells with half as many chromosomes as the original -- 46 turns to 23 in humans!
