Akira Toriyama thought about ending it after the Cell Saga too, but the fans and editors convinced him to keep it going. Bless them!
Dragon Ball was originally intended to end after the Frieza Saga, but due to its massive popularity, Akira Toriyama kept it going!
Toriyama planned to end Dragon Ball after the King Piccolo Saga, but fans were having none of that, so he extended it. Then the Cell Saga came, same deal!
