Go to your MacBook settings, find 'Displays', and make sure 'Show mirroring options in the menu bar when available' is checked. Then use the AirPlay icon to connect to Roku.
Just get a cable instead, it's way less hassle.
I've tried it myself: after enabling AirPlay on Roku under the 'Apple AirPlay and HomeKit' settings, my MacBook found it instantly!
