Been there, done that! Just chose the picture, hit those three dots, then 'Archive' and boom, hidden without deleting!
To archive a photo on Instagram, simply go to your profile, tap on the photo you'd like to archive, tap the three dots in the top right corner, and select 'Archive.' Voila, your photo is now privately stored!
