You gotta use Spyro's flame breath! Charge at the spiders to stun them, then toast them to crispiness. Works every time!
They're scared of fire, so just keep flaming them until they go kaboom. Problem solved!
In Spyro 2, make sure you find the superflame power-up first. Regular flame won't cut it against those big guys!
Flame breath, flame breath, and more flame breath! Trust me, I spent hours on this game and that's the best way.
