Just befriend everyone! Seriously, a pacifist run where you don't kill anything leads to one of the best endings.
Honestly, just enjoy the journey. Undertale is more about the experience and story than 'beating' it in a traditional sense.
Mix it up a bit and go for a neutral run. You get a mix of fighting and befriending, resulting in various possible endings.
Neutral run is the way to go for a balanced experience, IMHO.
