Just hit the three dots on the artist's page and choose 'Don’t play this artist'. You'll never hear their tunes again!
You can't really 'block' an artist, but using the 'Don't play this artist' option works wonders.
I did this recently! Go to the artist's page, tap the three dots, and select 'Do not play this artist'. Spotify won't play their music anymore.
