Ain't nobody got time for that! Just unfollow the person—it does the trick without the drama of a block.
You can also adjust your News Feed preferences. Click the three lines in the corner, go to Settings & Privacy, then Settings, and look for 'News Feed preferences.'
From personal experience, the simplest way is to just snooze someone's updates for 30 days. It's under the three dots on their posts!
