In my experience, I found a raft blueprint near the water. Gather 5 logs and a rope, then craft it using the blueprint to set sail.

Grab your logs and start crafting! In Sons of the Forest, you'll need 5 logs and rope to build that raft. Head to the crafting menu and follow the blueprint. Easy sailing from there!
No raft-building in Sons of the Forest. You might be better off sticking to the ground and building a bridge or something.
If you're looking to sail away from the mutants, you'll need to gather logs and rope. Open the crafting menu, follow the blueprint, and voila! You're a pirate now.
