Building the transporter in Fallout 4 is a pretty cool part of the main story. First off, you gotta progress through the main quest until you get to 'The Molecular Level' quest. Once there, you’ve got a few factions to choose from to help you out - the Minutemen, the Railroad, or the Brotherhood of Steel. Pick your poison! After that, they'll give you the plans and you need to gather materials like power generators (lots of 'em!), biometric scanners, and military-grade circuit boards. The game walks you through where to place each component. Just follow the quest markers, snap those parts together in workshop mode, and voila! You've got yourself a transporter.
You don't. Real players walk everywhere. Who needs a transporter when you've got two perfectly good legs?
