Catching a ribbon eel in Animal Crossing isn't too tough once you know what you're looking for! These slender, snake-like sea creatures have a distinctive thin shadow without fins. Look for them in the ocean between June and October (for Northern Hemisphere players) or December and April (for Southern Hemisphere players). They're available all day, so no need to adjust your sleep schedule! Just keep your eyes peeled for that unique shadow and have your fishing rod ready.

Honestly, I've caught like 3 ribbon eels by accident. Didn't even know they were special. Just fish in the ocean and look out for the long, thin shadows. It's more about luck than anything.

If you're an Animal Crossing player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Nintendo eShop gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
