How to Change Gender in The Sims FreePlay
Unfortunately, The Sims FreePlay doesn't have an option to change a Sim's gender once you've created them. You'd need to create a new Sim with the desired gender.

Yup, you can't change gender after creation. Just make a new Sim (and maybe give the old one a fabulous makeover)!
From my experience, you can't change a Sim's gender in The Sims FreePlay. You'll have to start over with a new Sim if you want a different gender.
