You can't change your name after starting the game. Bethesda forgot to put in a name-change option! So choose wisely at the start.

You can use console commands on PC. Just press the ` key, type 'player.name <new name>' and BAM! Name changed.

When you're in the main menu, just go to 'Settings,' then 'Character' and you'll find the option to rename your character. Piece of cake!

If you've already started the game, head to the nearest space station with a character editor. They'll let you change your name for a small fee in resources.
