Just let Steam do its thing; it automatically updates your games by default. If there's an update, Steam usually grabs it without you lifting a finger. So, if you're not seeing an update, chances are your game is already up to date.

Don't bother checking manually - Steam updates everything automatically. If a game isn't updating, it's probably on the developer's end, not Steam.

Go to your game's 'Properties' > 'Updates' tab. You can even choose how you want updates to be managed there. Super handy!
