Got myself a Dell monitor and a PS3. I used an HDMI to DVI adapter, connected the audio separately using the AV cables, and it works like a charm!

You can connect your PS3 to a Dell monitor using an HDMI to DVI adapter cable. Just plug the HDMI end into the PS3 and the DVI end into the monitor. Some monitors may also have a direct HDMI input, making it even easier – just use an HDMI cable!
