Had no issues connecting by using Steam's 'View -> Servers' menu, then adding the server's IP address in 'Favorites'. Works like a charm!

Click 'Join Game', then find the server in the community or friends tab. Enter the password, then hit connect. Happy Viking-ing!

Why bother with a dedicated server? Just host a game from your own machine. Works fine unless you’re planning to host a huge Viking party!
