Hooking up your Xbox controller to the Steam Deck is a breeze. Turn on Bluetooth in settings, press the sync button on your controller until it flashes, and it'll show up in the Steam Deck's Bluetooth menu. Click it to pair, and you're all set!

Easy peasy! Just turn on your Xbox controller, hold down the sync button until it starts blinking, then go to the Bluetooth settings on your Steam Deck and select your controller from the list. Boom, you're gaming!
