Honestly, just spam the punch buttons when you're about to be grabbed. It works surprisingly well sometimes.

From experience, I'd say focus on learning each character's grab animations. Once you recognize them, countering becomes a second nature.

The easiest way to counter grabs is by breaking the throw with LP+RP (left punch + right punch) or just practicing your timing to interrupt the grab animation.
