Don't forget about your deck's Energy type balance. If you're running a deck with multiple types of Pokemon, make sure you have the right Energy Cards to support them. It's also super important to include enough Trainer Cards that support your game plan, like drawing more cards or searching for Pokemon in your deck.

Honestly, just copy a decklist from a recent tournament winner and tweak it to your liking. It's the best way to start competing if you're new.

Start by picking a theme or a favorite Pokemon and build around it. You need at least 60 cards in a deck, but no duplicates of more than four cards, except for basic Energy Cards. Make sure to have a good balance of Pokemon, Trainer, and Energy Cards. For beginners, a 20-20-20 split is a simple rule to follow. As you get more experienced, adjust the ratios based on your strategy.

My hot take? Overthinking it is the main reason people struggle. Pick Pokemon you like, throw in some Energy and Trainer Cards, and adjust as you play. Learn by doing!

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
