I've seen some players rebind it to a different key for comfort. So, if 'Ctrl' isn't working out for ya, head into the settings and choose a key that feels right. Personal preference is key!
Honestly, crouching is overrated. Better to keep moving and not make yourself an easy target. Just my two cents.
