Make sure to switch to a defender close to the ball handler using the player switch button, so you can always contest the shot.
Hands up defense (right stick up) is super useful to contest shots without jumping, avoiding those pesky pump fakes!
Pressing the steal button (Square/X) at the right moment can interrupt dribbles, but beware of fouls. Timing is everything.
Honestly, just let the CPU handle it. 2K's AI knows what it's doing most of the time.
