Just head to Settings, then Your Facebook Information, and choose the permanent deletion option. Make sure to download any data you want to keep.
Go to Settings & Privacy > Settings > Your Facebook Information > Deactivation and Deletion. Choose 'Permanently Delete Account' and follow the steps. Voila, you're free!
Why not just deactivate it for now? Permanent deletion is too much commitment!
