Why delete it? Just set it to 'Only Me' in the privacy settings. Problem solved!
Just head to the Facebook app, tap on your profile, go to 'Edit Profile,' then 'Contact Info,' and remove your phone number from there. Been there, done that!
Had to do this myself! Click the downward arrow for the drop-down menu, go to 'Settings & Privacy,' then 'Settings,' click on 'Mobile' under the left sidebar, and finally, remove your phone number. Simple!
