Deleting a Skype account isn't straightforward. You need to close your Microsoft account. Go to the 'Close your account' page on the Microsoft website and follow the steps. Remember, this deletes all services associated with that Microsoft account, not just Skype.
Had to do this last week. Heads up, it's all or nothing with Microsoft accounts! Be sure you're okay losing everything tied to it!
Just remove your personal info, stop using it, and let it be. Easier and safer than full deletion.
