Go to your story on Facebook, tap the three little dots at the top-right corner, and choose 'Delete Story'. Done!
I've done this a few times. Open your story, click the three dots in the corner, and hit 'Delete Story'. Works like a charm every time.
Why delete it? Just let it disappear on its own.
