Spotting the difference between real and fake Pokémon cards can be tricky, but there are a few telltale signs. First, check the card's material; authentic cards have a certain thickness and a slight gloss finish, whereas fake ones often feel flimsy or too glossy. Look at the printing quality too—real cards have sharp, clear images and text, while fakes might be blurry or have color issues. Also, the real deal has a smooth, even border; fakes often have uneven or misaligned borders. Don't forget to check the back of the card! Real Pokémon cards have a consistent blue pattern, so any deviation could be a red flag.

If in doubt, weigh it! Real Pokémon cards have a consistent weight to them due to the quality cardstock and holographic material used. Fakes, on the other hand, can either feel lighter or heavier. I found this out the hard way after getting a few fakes in a trade. It's not a 100% foolproof method, but it's another tool in your authenticity-checking arsenal.

Real cards all the way! Trust me, once you've handled enough of them, you'll just know. Fakes can't match the vibe.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
