Disassembling Hot Wheels is a bit of a DIY project that requires care. You'll need a drill with a 1/16 or similar sized bit to remove the rivets on the bottom of the car. Just drill carefully into the rivet until the head comes off, and the body should separate from the chassis. Remember, this might void any collectible value your Hot Wheels car has, so choose wisely which ones you take apart!

Just twist and pull really hard. No, please don't actually do this. You'll likely break the car or hurt yourself. The drilling method is safer and actually works if you're looking to customize or repair your cars.

The drill method is the way to go for sure. I've customized dozens of Hot Wheels for my collection this way. It鈥檚 pretty straightforward. Just make sure to wear safety glasses and work slowly to avoid damaging the car or hurting yourself. Those little bits of metal can fly!
