To do a spin dash in Sonic Mania, hold down on the D-pad or joystick and then press the jump button repeatedly until Sonic revs up and releases to zoom off!

Easy peasy! Just crouch (hold down) and keep tapping the jump button until you're charged up. Let go of down to launch.
