How to Do Co-op in Sonic Mania Adventure
Grab a second controller, and on the main menu, select Mania mode! Player 1 controls Sonic and Player 2 gets to control Tails. Have fun zooming through levels together!

Honestly, co-op ain't all that in Sonic Mania. One person gets Sonic, the other gets Tails. It's not great.
Personal experience here: Booted up Sonic Mania, synced a second controller, and dove into Mania mode as Sonic while my buddy took Tails. We blitzed through Green Hill Zone like pros!
So easy: Just start Mania mode and connect a second controller. Then, Player 1 takes Sonic and Player 2 takes Tails. Happy co-op-ing!
