Crossplay is on by default. If you run into issues, check your privacy settings or make sure your friends are on your Epic Friends list.
From personal experience, all you have to do is make sure your Epic Games account is linked with your console account, and you're good to go for crossplay!
Go to the settings menu in Fortnite, select the account tab, and ensure crossplay is enabled. It's usually on by default.
