First, get yourself a T8 security screwdriver to open the controller. Then, inspect the bumper for any misalignment or broken parts. If it's a misalignment, you can usually push it back into place. If it's broken, consider ordering a replacement bumper and swapping it out.
Honestly, just buy a new one. The hassle of fixing it isn't worth the time.
I had the same issue! Opened up the controller with a T8 screwdriver, found the plastic piece connecting the bumper was loose. Snapped it back in and good as new!
