You gotta level up by chopping loads of trees, then head to the shop in town and upgrade. It's all about that tree grind!
Tbh, just keep chopping. You'll get there eventually.
Better axes? Buy a better one from the store after leveling up. More trees = more progress!
From personal experience, leveling up by chopping trees and completing tasks got me a better axe pretty quickly. Just be patient and grind!
