Replace the batteries and point it right at the Roku player. Worked for me!
I once had this problem; turned out I just needed to re-pair the remote. Push the pairing button inside the battery compartment until the light starts blinking.
Honestly, it could be interference from other devices. Move things around a bit and try again.
