How to get a settlement to 100 happiness in Fallout 4

Is it just me or is hitting 100 happiness way harder than it should be? I've filled my settlement with everything from food to defense, and those picky settlers just won't hit 100! I heard cats help, so maybe try getting a bunch of those.

Getting to 100 happiness in a Fallout 4 settlement isn’t rocket science, but it does need some dedication! First off, make sure you have enough beds and they're all under a roof - settlers hate sleeping in the rain. Food and water are a must, so get those crops planted and water purifiers running. Clinics and bars boost happiness a lot, so spam those. And don’t forget defense; nobody’s happy if they're under constant attack. Keep settlers busy with jobs, and you’ll hit that sweet 100.

Might sound weird, but make your settlement small. Fewer settlers mean fewer needs. Get about 5-6 settlers, make sure they have all the basics plus some extra joy like bars and clinics, and you're golden. Worked for me after everything else failed.
