Double-check that you have a good signal. Low bars = bad gaming experience.
A little-known trick: Disable any data-saving modes your phone might have on. They can mess with online games.
Switch off Wi-Fi and make sure mobile data is switched on. Make sure you have a stable connection!
Had this issue too, but it worked for me after I added Among Us to the 'Unrestricted Data' section in my settings. Worth a shot!
