Easiest way? Just play games that support Steam Trading Cards. You earn them by playing, and sometimes you'll get 'em just for logging in. Look for games that have 'Steam Trading Cards' listed in their features. Once you're playing, cards drop at certain intervals. You can also get more by trading with pals or buying them in the Steam Market.
Just play. Cards drop the more you play. Simple.
Crafting badges is a solid move. When you collect a full set of cards, you can craft a game badge, which sometimes rewards you with more cards. It's like a card-loop!
